Summary

What was the most important thing I learned? That there is a whole world out there that is not waiting for me and I need to play catch up.

What was the most challenging? Deciphering the steps and filling in the blanks. Why? I prefer having things spelled out for me and using these tools requires a leap of faith. In other words, not being overly familiar with this technology required me to think with a dusty part of my brain.

How can PVLD use these technologies to deliver or improve library services? The more you know, the more useful you are.

How successful was the "self-directed" learning model? Is this a useful way of encouraging staff development? This process was really tough for me and I learned to be more creative and "read between the lines".

The end.

Task 10

Benefits: Voyeuristic pastime, horn tooter, creative outlet
Pitfalls: Time waster, silly ego inflater
Popularity derived from users need to scream "Look at me!" in an anonymous world

Task 9 - what can I say? Lots of potential and looking forward to exploring this tool in all my spare time.

Task 8

HelenWheels88888 says YouTube is not my cuppa tea but so what - it was worth it. I enjoy other people's postings of YouTube videos and surely that drives its popularity. It was relatively easy to learn about this site and I definitely anticipate patrons (older?) wanting to experience it.

Task 7

I really enjoyed learning about and using Wikipedia. By far my best experience with 2.0. My user name is HelenWheels and I added the long-winded passage about the MIR Teen Book Club. I had much more to say, but my tutor stopped me. An encyclopedia/dictionary for modern times, I think Wikipedia is an invaluable resource for anyone looking to broaden their views.

Task 6

HelenWheels88888 (12:24:44 pm): Who are you and why are you my buddy?
